Meeker's History

Like so many towns in Oklahoma, Meeker owes its existence to the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. When the railway built a branch line from Shawnee to Arkansas City around 1900, it bypassed the already existing town of Clifton. Eventually Clifton residents relocated to Meeker and the town grew around the agricultural industry. It's the birthplace of baseball greats Carl Hubbell, Jay Hubbell, John Hubbell, Ray Honeycutt, William T. Winford, and Jim Winford, and home of the Carl Hubbell Museum.

Glenn Crest Park, located a few blocks from our Davis branch, was renovated in 2020 and features playground equipment and various athletic courts.
